With an arch like that, you could get away with using metal conduit, I would think. At least if it did not work, you wouldn't be out much $. I would try it.

I have designed a hammock stand that will have removable waterproof cover. I need suggestions on what type of supports I should use for the waterproof cover. The span from tip to tip is 13 feet and has a 4' bulge. Any ideas?

Good idea. I was hoping to be able to connect all the ends together and have the entire piece rotate/fold inwards so that it would be more compact when not being used....any ideas on that?
Humm.... Seems like you could run two 'pipes' along each side (left and right), spaced apart enough to fit the bows into, then cross drill through all three and just use a bolt as the pivot. maybe throw some nylon washers in and use lock nuts to keep things snug but free enough to rotate.
Time permitting, I will sketch something up if you can't see what I feabily attempted to describe.

Thanks for your input. I am having a bit of a tough time picturing this....if you would draw something that would be great. I appreciate your help.
You know what - I was not really focused on this when I replied. Lets try this again.
I think if you used conduit and simply put ears on the end of each tube at the pivot it would work.
