I know someone on here will have the answer.
I am in need of some of the locks in the photos. They are a plastic (or metal) geared disc that will lock an adjustable pivot. (Think portable chalk board.)
Anyone know what the actual name of this item is, and more so, where to get them?
(I have about googled myself to sleep. LOL!)
Thanks!

I looked around but I, like you, have not been able to find anything.
I was searching terms like:
pivot lock
pivot ratchet
pivot clamp
articulation hardware
I got nothing. I will keep searching....

If it wasn't for the last minute I wouldn't get anything done
I used those terms too (except the articulation hardware.)
There has to be a name and a source for these. I thought I had found a brand name, but it turned out to be an in house name for a company that makes musical instrument stands.

I am thinking about trying a couple of face gears:

See the Belleville and Wedge Lock washers.

Can't tell if the wedgelock washers are two piece or not, but it appears they are.

have you looked at the parts break down for a Hobart auto dimming welding helmet or other ratcheting head gear? I'm sure mine uses them maybe Hobart could get you some....what are you building / dreaming?
I looked at the wedgelocks today, the problem with them is that they are "pitched" one way. It seems that they would allow it to rotate one direction easier than the other. Like a ratchet.
I will look into the other one, thank you!
Good call Mike. I will look into that also. I only need 2 sets currently, but that number may increase in the future. LOL!
I can't say what it is. It is a prototype I was hired to build. It is a stand of sorts.I will let the cat out of the bag as soon as I can.
