    Template Material

I have a project where I'm making some oddly shaped desk tops (will be particle board with laminate/T-Mold edge). I picked up a nice plunge router a while back that I thought something like this would be perfect for.

My question is, what type of material are you all using for templates? Is masonite the material of choice since it is so cheap, or should I be looking at MDF? It's been a number of years since I've done routing with a template, I thought I'd ask...

Oh! You said masonite.... never mind.

If it wasn't for the last minute I wouldn't get anything done

So did you ever end up doing this project Cebby? I am looking to make some pieces for my house and will need to use a template. I read that Masonite will work if you are only cutting a few (which I am.)

I use Masonite all the time for templates along with a bearing with my router bits. You just have to figure the small amount that the roller takes up when cutting. I also have not had any problems using the templkates numerious times with no problem.
