Biggest snowstorm this year 7"+ Pittsburgh and Northeast...

We got hammered pretty good. Two hour delay for my kids this AM. I'm not a fan of the cold, but when it snows, it makes everything OK with me...

Here's a pic from last night...

Of course, the obligatory holiday decorations pic...

Re: Biggest snowstorm this year 7"+ Pittsburgh and Northeast...

Having lived in Pittsyltucky then Denver for many years, I really miss the snow. It's funny because when I first mved here to VA from CO, we got about 20" of snow one night. I woke up that morning, got ready for work and drove in in my 2WD Izuzu P'up. Almost every road I traveled, I was cutting the first tracks - including the drive and parking lot of the plant. Out of the 350+ people that worked there, I was the only one there and it never, never dawned on me that they would close for a measly 20" of snow, so I went in, clocked in and went to work. After lunch time, my Austrian boss showed up and asked me what I was doing there - I told him the obvious and he informed me the plant was closed. I asked "Why?". I just could not believe it when he said it was because of the snow. We both kind of laughed about it and I went home.

    I miss the snow....

Saturday, I shoveled 2' of packed snow off the roof of the 4 car garage.

Math: 56' long x 14'9" rake length (Roof line measurement) x2 sides x 2' deep
    Equals 3,304 c.f of snow

Equals 122.37 Cubic Yards of snow

OVER (12) 10 wheel dumptrucks of snow off the roof

Why is my butt dragging today?

The snow just keeps coming too...

Here's a shot from the game yesterday...

And we are to get another "snow event" (as the weathermen say) coming this Wed/Thurs... Did I mention that both of my 4x4's are down with issues currently? (I'm fixing the Grand Cherokee today (hopefully))

SNOW??? Cebby- That isn't snow. Snow is measured in FEET! You can still see green!
Syracuse has had 41.5" recorded so far. They get about 2/3 what I get, and I am just 20 minutes north. The BIG snow is another 1/2 hour north. About Sandy Creek. Go west from there about 45 minutes, and they get up to 300" per year!! Tug Hill Plateau. Gotta love lake effect!

We almost saw what looked like it could have been the start of a flurry tonight. Upon further examination, it was determined that it was an ash from the neighbors wood burning stove. Damn it!

Still waiting for the white stuff here in southern VA.......

Well - I thought it was snowing yesterday but then realized it was ash from a nearby fireplace...

It flurried for an hour or so yesterday but that was about it. It is colder than a witches tit here this morning, though! 21 degrees on the way to work this AM - in a '85 CJ without heat.... I should have the feeling back in my fingers before lunch.

I wonder how Driven is doing? Apparently, they got hit with over 2'! Now THAT'S snow. I would love to have snow falls like that here in VA - I would be out of work for a week! These idiots here freak out if we get an inch - the whole city just shuts down - as if the snow has Aids or something.....

Anyway - I hope Driven2xs is still kickin.
