    I THOUGHT I knew

I THOUGHT I knew what I wanted , when I put in pallet racks in my polebarn. I had 16 l.f. of pallet rack that had 2 levels, plus floor storage.

Boy, was I wrong ! After some demeaning ball busting from my buddies about the HUGE mess I had going, I relented and removed 8' of pallet rack, and built some 24" deep shelving out of 2x4s. I ended up with 4 levels of storage, and I was able to store everything that was on the pallett racks with ROOM TO SPARE, and I could see what I had !!

I'll take a pic tonight to share with you guys. Now I have to sell off the pallet racks and buy some more 2x4s to finish it up.

I still can't believe I was so stupid.

    Re: I THOUGHT I knew

I'm not sure what you have in the way of pallet racking, but IMO cantilever type material storage seems to work pretty good depending on what you need to store (not trying to add to the ball busting ). Mine is more geared to wood, but I will be making something similar (and longer) out of steel for my upcoming garage addition.

    And a cart for drops:

    Looking forward to the pics!

Sounds like pallet racking is the right solution, no? Do you just need more shelves in it?

Just the opposite. I found that 24" deep shelves were 3x more useful than the 48" deep pallet racks! Defies logic.....

I forgot the racking was so deep. They don't make 24"d stringers I guess?

Of course they do, and 30" and etc... Pallet racking rules it's great! I really like the wire shelves. Check out the before and after. That rack holds allmost a 26' U-Haul truck worth of crap!
