    Ammunition cans on a motorcycle

    Hello,

I have a cruiser motorcycle I am putting ammo cans on for saddlebags.

There is a problem, and that is that I have a single mounting point. I would like to be able to remove the ammo cans, as the steel is actually almost too thin to weld structurally.

Please see the attachments for the problem and what I think may be a solution.

    Thank you.

You are right - one mounting point would be just about worthless. Three points would be perfect. Two is better than one. It's hard to say if your second idea would be ok - it would depend on the scale and thicknesses of materials used. It's definately a step in the right direction. I would shoot for three points of contact if at all possible, and spread them out as far apart as is aesthetically possible.

Hard to criticise without seeing it all first hand.

I made some brackets for the wifes Sporty out of 12 gauge steel. Something similar might suit your needs. I only had 2 mounting bolts to work with. If you needed to they could be boxed in for more strength.

I know this is the wrong orientation, but what about a tray set up like this?

Sorry Scott I should have explained it better. Those are just the brackets to hold the bags. Here are the bags mounted.
