Tool Review: H-F Metal cutting circular saw

Ok, very few tools impress me. We can add one to the list.

H-F sells a junky looking metal cutting circular saw. My wife bought me one, because she overheard me one time talking about one. Anyways, she bought it on sale for X-Mas, and I finally broke it out this weekend.

I was impressed. I cut some 2"x2"x.250" wall tube. It literally was like cutting into a wood 2x4. Square, clean cuts, with no hassles at all. Not as loud a you would expect, either. Quieter than a chop saw , by far.

Only one problem. I don't have any steel left to cut up.....

    Lots of short pieces, though.....

    Rating 9 out of 10

Detractions: H-F plastic looks cheesey. Something about H-F's plastic just doesn't sit well with me.

Down the road: I wan to see this sucker in a chop saw version!!!

    Surprising!

What's the max depth cut for it?

They had a carbide blade chop saw at the last place I worked with a shop. That thing was frighteningly loud compared to an abrasive chop saw. I wonder what makes this one so quiet?

I think the depth of cut is just over 2". I don't remember.

Question Re: Tool Review: H-F Metal cutting circular saw

That sounds like a very good price for the saw. I have looked through H-F's website and can't find it on sale. Do you have a link to the sale price?
    Thanks
    Gary

I must be going blind, I can't find the sale price for the saw. All I come up with is the $99.99 price. Could you copy me a link to the sale page?
    I really appreciate your help.
    Thanks
    Gary

I just signed up for the email flyers for online and retail stores. Hopefully there will be something in there for it...
